Band Bio

Founded in 2000 as the solo project of DJ Dazed, DREAMDAZE uses laptops and a variety of software to fuse the project’s driving influences of dada, surrealism and William S. Burroughs into a musical equivalent - with bits and pieces of any given song pulled from a wide expanse of musical genres.

DREAMDAZE produces music on the experimental edge of electronica.

DREAMDAZE is featured on several compilations, including Raw42’s Global Chilled Volume 1 and Machinations v4.2: IDM & Ambient Techno and has had music featured on the Canadian television show “Zed” and National Public Radio’s “All Songs Considered”.

DREAMDAZE has produced 3 solo CDs: This Is How Flat The World Is (2003), The Truth In Everything Rejected (2004), and Titles Unconnected With Their Functional Use (2005).

DREAMDAZE receives airplay on radio stations around the globe, including the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Japan, Germany, Holland and the United Kingdom, among others, and has over 35 songs published by Raw42, a UK-based music publisher.

CD Contents

Titles Unconnected With Their Functional Use includes 15 songs:

Faceless Apathetic Citizens (Experimental, 3:23)
A dark and brooding glitchy ambient-electronica piece with dry beats, throbbing sub bass and a feeling of space.

The Honorable Margaret Chase Smith (Experimental, 3:00)
Quite a funky piece that reminds one of an eighties electro pop track; all synth-driven with bleeps added for good measure.

Transistorized Veneration (Trip Hop, 3:50)
Cool sub bass tones combine with hip hop breaks, vocal snippets and scratches; a lonely synth pad generates a sad and sinister feel for this track.

Simple Nonlinear Melancholic Swirl (Ambient, 3:33)
Gentle ambience with rolling backing and pensive piano; stays on one level throughout.

Kneel Laugh Seven (Experimental, 4:00)
A beautifully subtle electronica track; glitchy, spikey and psychedelic elements punctuate a barren soundscape.

Premature Ossification (Experimental, 4:00)
Snappy hats combine with a deep bass and mysterious pads.

Chthonic Cerumen (Electronica, 3:03)
Techno digital intro with minor IDM tendencies sit overtop light experimental melody with small percussive elements.

Hermetic (Ambient, 3:32)
A bubbling intro with swaying gentle pads and tinkling effects give the feeling of underwater explorations or distant journeys into space and beyond - also includes some nice guitar sections.

Proclomation Without Pretension (Illbient, 3:50)
Slightly twisted track, very unusual percussion of clicks and pops - almost oriental in tone with guitar and analog synth melodies.

Bansuri Summer Sturm und Drang (Illbient, 3:51)
A low-key blippy scientific, illbient affair with unusual sounds and plodding underlying percussion combined with eerie, avant garde effects and synth lines...subtle, unusual, somewhat experimental.

Soft Engine Desire (Experimental, 3:31)
Analog gurgles, electro drums and clever electronic sounds give this track a very computerized feel.

The Birth Of Liquid Desire (Ambient, 3:49)
A strange running water intro gently blends into a piano and pad-driven ambient piece - very thought-provoking and of a fairly dark nature.

Water Clad Leaves (Illbient, 3:23)
Twisted randomness of metallic sounds and effects - creates a feeling of being uncomfortable, anxious, scared and alone.

The Vein Flamboyant (Game Soundtracks, 3:07)
A soulful journey inside the belly of a synth - very funky in feel.

Bog (Down Tempo, 10:44)
Slow, but interesting, mechanical intro with low bass lines and ambient pads...futuristic and methodical with a sense of expectancy.
