"Goin'' Bananas" was recorded following Teddy Bear Band''s initial home grown recordings "Captured Live" 1985, "Winter Holiday" 1986, and "Music in Motion" in 1987. In 1988 the band was invited by Prince to record TBB''s 1st major recording "You''re in the Show" live at Paisley Park Studios. It featured TBB''s original arrangements of traditional songs and included a greater number of original compositions. It received rave reviews from distributors like Scholastic that acclaimed "You''re in the Show" to be one of only a few recordings that "truly connected with toddlers".
Based on the success of the cassette "You''re in the Show" and Teddy Bear Band''s unprecedented regional popularity "Goin'' Bananas" was recorded. TBB had demonstrated it''s ability to reach older children and all ages at it''s live performances. "Goin'' Bananas" was aimed at connecting with a little older audience while still being relevant to young children. It features many contemporary music styles from various cultural roots with lot''s of energy & groove. The purpose is engaging kids in fun & participation and encouraging parents/teachers to join in.
