This album started out as a five song EP released at the old https://www.tradebit.com in 1999 in lieu of the full-length project I was still trying to complete (The Moon Is English For Luna). Over the next year and a half I expanded the project bit by bit to album length. The current running order contains four of the five original EP tracks, plus most of the material I added to expand it, as well as a few premiere recordings unique to this version, and for all practical purposes it is the “definitive” edition of the album. Like many of my albums, it is mostly instrumental, peppered throughout with strange voices saying strange things.
Track 1 Alien Trampoline Torus
Premiere recording. This is the first of several tracks to be constructed using a complicated drum machine program overdubbed with an assortment of strange elements (somewhat similar to the synclavier material on Zappa’s Jazz From Hell, but more lo-tech). This recording attempts to describe a dream I had where I was bouncing around (trampoline style sans-trampoline) inside a flying saucer alongside a couple of aliens.
Track 2 Melange
Premiere recording. This track was constructed like track 1 above, but with a simpler drum machine program recorded live while I was rotating the various drum kit programs to create a melange of sounds.
Track 3 Rocks In A Bowl Make Soup
Original EP track. Slow drum machine track performed live and overdubbed with a reversed ambient guitar track from another track on another album.

EP expansion tracks. This medley of tracks was my first mp3 single release at the old https://www.tradebit.com in 1999, entitled “Praying With 5167 People”. The first section was recorded (mostly) in 1990 and is a mish-mash of lo-tech strangeness. The second section was recorded (mostly) in 1993 and is inspired by the bass line from The Beatles’ “Hey Bulldog”, featuring a Snakefinger-esque detuned guitar solo. The third section was recorded (mostly) in 1995 and is a live ambient drum machine performance, reversed & overdubbed with splashes of double speed guitar.

EP expansion track. Guitar noise & feedback with overdubbed live drum machine performance.

Original EP track. Guitar perfomance recorded in 1989, reversed and played double speed.
Track 9 Frog Froth
Premiere recording. Four junk guitar tracks recorded & mixed in 1989 to teach myself how to use a four-track Tascam Portastudio, then processed in 1996 using an Alesis Midiverb 4.
Track 10 Coward
EP expansion track. Detuned solo guitar performance recorded in 1997, processed with reverse reverb using an Alesis Midiverb 4. A soundtrack for an imaginary David Lynch film sequence.
