Yordan Orchestra play psychedelic indie rock songs to
celebrate all their broad experimental & eclectical lusts.
There’s room for organs, gongs, brass & pianos as well
as for improvisation, which is part of the performing
concept. Influences range from Krautrock,
David Bowie and Beatles to Brian Jonestown Mscr,
MGMT,and Sonic Youth. That all dressed and amplified
by psychedelica, VJs, catchy tunes and sacred spheres.
The current line-up is:
Jack Aleister (vox/git),
Nico Tallman (drums, vox),
Edita Karko (piano, vox),
Carl Marcks (bas)
Joel Mozes (sax, tubez, keys)
and is eventually filled up with other musicians and a VJane.
Instruments on stage, according to the circumstances, include gongs, electric organs, horns, violoncello, female Soprano, Tubular Bells, Vibraphone, Glockenspiel, etc..

Just before eight a whole group of black and red dressed drummers and brass players marched accross the festival area heading the Barbarossa Stage. Those who let themselves tempt by the piper of Hamelen were not led to the river Waal, as the legend says, but got to see one of the most spectacular and awesome shows of the festival.
“A hippie-opera that could have easily been written 38 years ago. We may count Jack Aleister and his fellows to the toppers so far. Honestly one of the revelations of this festival.”

I was amazed: great, a mix of the in the Netherlands almost unknown Mardi Gras BB and the nowadays at Lowlands willingly seen guests of The Polyphonic Spree. But there where those two mentioned use bombast and size Jack Aleister & Yordan Orchestra are able to keep it smaller and intimate. The songs stand for themselves and are not carried by choires and bombast only. Heavily leaning on the 60s and 70s and with Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar awakening in the depths of my memory Jack Aleister & Yordan Orchestra know to intrigue me. Come on with those concert dates and that complete album.
