"Commander Pants is an odd duck. It seems like he''s got countless stories to tell. The artist has written a novel, Whom God Would Destroy, and has also released an album Zipped.
The album is a series of mostly narrative songs. The combination of spoken word recital and avant garde accompaniment merges with the absurd prose to create a piece of art that is reminiscent of The Velvet Underground''s "The Gift". When his songs are slanted towards singing rather than storytelling, as on "The Underachievers", the result sounds like Ween performing Frank Zappa tunes.
A track like the piano-based instrumental "Ocean In the Tube" demonstrates that the Commander has a musical talent that often gets lost amid the bizarro sideshow. "
