Details:
PC Giambi is originally from Eden, North Carolina outside of Greensboro. Born Greg Corbett, PC Giambi was influenced by artists such as Run DMC, Native Toung, Nas, Common, Mos Def, and the Roots. As a young man he was inspired to make his own music. He started performing at a young age in talent shows and since then he has come a long way. PC Giambi started off strictly as an M.C., on the independent label called Loochie Records. While he began working in his cousin’s recording studio, his coworkers started giving him some of their tracks to record with. In 1996, Columbia Records signed Da 5 Deadly Venoms, a group that he was with at the time, but now he performs as a solo artist. In 2001, PC Giambi started his own independent record label Dot 3 with his cousin, J Dibiasie. His label has come out with numerous albums and mix tapes with eight different artists under the label. PC Giambi also started his own publishing company called Power Culture Composition, which is affiliated with the American Society of composers, authors, and publishers, ASCAP. He came to Middle Tennessee State University with an artist management associate degree and a recording engineering degree. He graduated in August with a BA in Audio Production Technology at Middle Tennessee State University Recording Industry department.
The PC in PC Giambi stands for Power Culture, a subject that Giambi has many opinions on, particularly in Hip-Hop music. His personal thoughts on hip-hop are readily expressed in various tracks of his latest album “Dollars Make Sense.” His song “My Hip Hop” portrays his view on how hip hop has become commercialized and escaped from the true message, just to give off a fake thug image that sells. Giambi strives to bring the game back to real, official Hip-Hop. “Money Walk” features an exceptionally well-produced beat with a good hook that quickly grabs ones attention making it one of the catchiest songs on the album that displays his savvy producing and witty rhymes. The message of the album “Dollars Make Sense” is one that Gaimbi has stayed true to since he first began his career. It is that regardless of what you do, just know that dollars make sense, and you must come up with the finances to become an independent, self-made man. “Dollars Make Sense” is a combination of modern and old school Hip-Hop. His music can be described as conscious flow with clever and sophisticated content. The influence of TuPac, Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, and A Tribe Called Quest is evident in Gaimbi’s music. Giambi writes and produces all of his own music and is constantly creating beats and collaborating with other artists to further his pursuit of making a career out of his music. Gaimbi provides inspiration and motivation for the average man and above all things, lives for the message.
