Mickey Newbury was Kacey''s friend and songwriting hero. His songs have been covered over a thousand times to date by everyone from Joan Baez to Ray Charles to Elvis Presley. He was was inducted into The Songwriter''s Hall of Fame in the 90''s and awarded The President''s Award in 2006 by The Americana Music Association (posthumously). Mickey passed away in 2002. In tribute to him, Kacey recorded 15 unforgettable Newbury compositions and made two music videos to promote the project. Newbury''s best friend, Kris Kristofferson, appears in Kacey''s first video, "San Francisco Mabel Joy." Actor, Waylon Payne ("Walk the Line") is in that video also and he''s ''starring'' in the new video, "Lie to Me Darlin''".
