Swedish/American Noise Rock recorded in Crown Hill, Seattle.
The music of Valley Horse could have been forged in the steel mill of most of the member’s hometown in Avesta, Sweden; a small country town with hard working, blue collar citizens. Avesta’s main industry, and the lifeline that keeps the town alive, is the large plant where huge rolls of fine quality stainless steel is produced. Sometimes you can hear thunderous roars coming from the mill from miles away. But the sound of the band is more a rebellion against that dark industry and equally dark Swedish winters; soft, intimate, intelligent, warm, yet edgy. All of the Swedish members have been employed at the mill at one time or another… In the late 90''s Michael Springer, whose mother is Swedish, was visiting his mothers hometown Avesta when he met Andreas Backlund, son of a mill worker and current mill worker himself. Mike had already been playing guitar for a while but Backlund and his gang were just starting up. Mike and Andreas shared a love for noisy, post punk rock like Sonic Youth, Nirvana and https://www.tradebit.com two would talk and listen to music for hours and share favorite alternate tunings with each https://www.tradebit.comy kept in touch over the years and would see each other every summer when Mike would visit. During this time Backlund and his friends, and fellow mill workers, Andreas Kjersel & Tommy Forsell formed the band Yodah and learned to play their instruments together. They were later joined by Mikael Assmundson and renamed to Ono Soul. Over the years all 5 members would become good friends and Springer would jam with the band during the summer and even play a few gigs here and there. During this time Michael worked on projects like Force from Beyond and Parallel Mirrors. Valley Horse is a reunion of all these projects, recorded in Springer’s home studio in Crown Hill, Seattle.
