Details:
The title track for "Don''t Talk to Strange Dogs" came to Bill in a dream. In fact many of the songs for this record seem to have been the product of some sort of alternate consciousness, as Bill wrote most of them in just a few minutes each, as if they had been delivered to Bill on the wind. Since releasing "Muddy Brazos River Bottom Blues," in 2008, Bill has entered into an incredibly prolific period as a writer, with a complete third album already written, which Bill is already working on. Meanwhile, we think that you will enjoy "Don''t Talk to Strange Dogs," as Bill has evolved as a writer, and this release covers a broader spectrum of light and dark emotions. Texturally, there is the over the top psychedleic blues/rock mayhem that Bill is known for, but you will also find quiet acoustic pieces, and a number of songs built on the unique droning of a steel resonator guitar. We think there is something for everyone on "Don''t Talk to Strange Dogs." However, this release is clearly the vision of an artist with strong roots in the swampy southern environs of the American Gulf Coast, and as such, has an Americana feel to it, with the river delta blues of the deep south at it''s core. Bill wrote all sixteen songs for this release, and performed all of the guitar and vocals. Bill began work on this project in spring of 2009, at Big Door Studios in Webtser, Texas, with the aid of producer extraordinaire, and studio wizard, Mike BBQ. The incredibly talented and hard working rhythym machine of basist Paul Byron, and drummer Mighty Mike DeLuco are the backbone for "Don''t Talk to Strange Dogs." These two guys play in more bands on the Gulf Coast than anyone we know, including Love it to Death, CRASH, and the Rhythym Kings, just to name a few. However, we are also very please to have the contributions of rhythym team Joe Shahda, bass guitar, and Marc Sherman on drums. Joe and Marc are two of the busiest and most sought after musicians in the Houston area. All in, there are great performances by everyone, better songs, and broader appeal on "Don''t Talk to Strange Dogs."
