Trina wrote her first song, “ Old Man”, in her late teens. The bulk of her writing has been done over the last five years. Most of the songs on the CD Horizon were written during the summer of 2009. Taking her very first and most favored song and adding it to the CD was a given for Trina. “People seem to love that song and so do I. It has a message that hits home with everyone”.
The songs have varied in style and content over the years. There were many self exploration songs, environmental songs, songs promoting peace and goodness towards humanity and all that stuff most writers write about at some point or another. The current flow of music, however, is very much to her liking as it is a happier, more upbeat style that compliments her folk trend nicely. Some of the older songs will likely come out at some point when the time is right. For now, she felt it was more important to focus on the flood of songs that turned up this year and get them recorded. “There is a reason that this flood of creativity has happened now”. “Now is just the right time and it is meant to be shared”. “It is absolutely impossible to not be inspired in the Haliburton setting”. “It just exudes creativity here and there is plenty to feel and write about”.
Trina has learned to pay much closer attention to what she refers to as “channeled” information when it comes to writing music. “I am the vehicle used to relay the information from wherever it comes from. I pay close attention to the little fellow on my shoulder feeding me lines or playing strange tunes in my head. We all have one (maybe yours’ isn’t particularly musically inclined) we just seldom listen to him. Actually, he’s pretty smart and can create some pretty good stuff”.
“Life is an incredible journey to experience and revere. We must be good to ourselves and to others. To harm another we harm ourselves. Giving and sharing fulfills the heart and soul. Music is an incredible gift to share, I’m very fortunate. Enjoy the music”!
