The documentary film, Hidden Children explores the children who survived the Holocaust from a personal perspective...3 survivors share their stories.
The opening and closing music, The Waltz of Life, has an old European world flavor and Playtime for the outdoors scenes has a care free impressionistic quality. The work, Conversations, interweaves between the stories and the experiences told by Carl, Goldy and Evelyn as children in Conversatiions. Moments is my personal take of Nigunim. Nigun (pl. nigunim, Hebrew: ניגון) is a Hebrew term meaning “humming tune.” Usually, the term refers to religious songs and tunes that are sung by groups. It is a form of voice instrumental music, often without any lyrics or words, although sounds like “bim-bim-bam” or “Ai-ai-ai!” are often used.
So, the film music and Hidden Children together illustrates the difference between childhood and adulthood through outdoor scenes of both children and adults at play in contrasting scenes creating not only a documentary…but an artistic film of collages.
