Details:
After many years in hiatus Orquesta La Paz has recorded a
new cd featuring the groups many talents from all the members
through out the years .

Orquesta LA Paz was born in Cauguas Puerto Rico in 1972.
Founded by Tino Sanchez and Julio Cesar Marrero, who also
doubled as the musical director. La Paz was brought to Philadelphia
in 1973 by Promotor Hector Maisonave, where he booked La Paz
in the Salsa circuit up and down the eastern seaboard. In june of 1974,
Julio Cesar Marrero with his new Co-Leader, Freddy Ruiz created the
original Orquesta La Paz of Philadelphia.

In February 1977, La Paz was the third act in a show high lighted by
Raul Marrero, a singer, songwriter /entertainer who is an icon in Latin
music. He saw our potential and took us to New York City where we
recorded our first album entitled “La Paz Debut”. Mr. Marrero, who is
better known for his song writing, wrote our first hit entitled “ Para
Comerte A Besos”. The album was released in January 1978 and it
proceeded to 14 in the New York hit parade. Polito Vega an iconic New
York disc jockey, brought us to New Yorks’ club corso on the 7th and 8th
of april 1978. It was one of the top venues then. !978 was our best year
musically and monetarily. Unfortunatly La Paz broke up on tour in Puerto
Rico on July 6th 1979 and we went our separate ways.

In 1984, Julio Cesar Marrero returned to Philadelphia and along with Victor
Aday as the new Co-Leader, rebuilt La Paz in 1986. We regained our
popularity and prepared ourselves for our new LP/CD. We started
recording in 1990 and our CD Entitled “From Philadelphia with Love” was
finally releasd in 1995. We had a minor regional hit “Vas Por Los
Caminos”. This time, the relationship between the leaders soured and the
band dispersed.

In 2001, J. Cesar Marrero and Victor Aday renewed there friendship and
were discussing a return when, unfortunately, Julio Cesar Marrero was
struck down by a motor vehicle on 3-07-01. This left Victor Aday
inheriting “La Paz”.

On September 30, 2005, the remaning core of La Paz came together in a
show honoring Julio Cesar Marrero, Angelo Rivera , original lead singer
and Freddy Ruiz, Co-Leader and trombonist. Because of the success of
that evening, the original core, with new members are now ready to
finally bring it on home and take to the top.
