Our earthly home reminds me of a motel. It is so temporary; each day guests are checking in and checking out; someone built it and someone manages it. Yes, someone manages it, but whom? What is he like? Is there any way we can find out - maybe even get to meet him, get to know him? In this CD, I hope to provide encouragement for those of you, who, like me, may have ever wondered about these things.
When "Morning Fields", the most requested song on this CD, was released, Songwriter''s Monthly magazine said, "Daniel L. Lovell''s demo is a reverent gaze into the beauty of nature and the similarities of ''Morning Fields'' and life". Morning Fields, along with Hydrangea Blue, are presented as Irish ballads. Examples of other styles on this CD include: blues (Earth Motel), country (Pot of Barley Soup), blue grass (Dandelion Flower), Latino (Yours, Mine and Ours) and contemporary (Jesus Is Alive, and the mysterious We Never Walk Alone). To the many compliments I have received on the quality of this recording, I can only thank Carter Green of Greenjeans Studios, Wellington, KS, for his superb work.
My wife, Betty, and I live in Kansas, and I proudly serve with the Kansas Air National Guard, 184th Air Refueling Wing, McConnell Air Force Base, KS.
Five radio stations in Kansas have featured my music; and my lyrics have been published several times in Songwriter''s Monthly magazine, and often in regional publications. Songwriter''s Monthly has awarded me a Certificate of Merit, on two occasions, for winning their "Words By" lyrics contest.
Choral sheet music is now available for 2 of the songs on this CD; "Morning Fields" and "Jesus is Alive". My newly published book of poetry, "I Met the Manager of the Earth Motel", contains many of my still unrecorded song lyrics, woven together into an inspirational story.
