Dae Ahzae (pronounced Day I-Zay) was born and raised in midtown Kansas City Missouri, not far from The Historic 18th Vine. The place where jazz greats like Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gellespie frequented often during their hayday. His birth name is Damon Lee Patterson. Dae was born on Feb. 4th 1983 at 6:04pm to single mother Glenda Robinson, who was a drummer/singer at the time. Hes the last born of three siblings. The eccentric aquarian grew up in a artistic enviroment that was sure to manefest oneday. Almost everyone in his family tree had some sort of artistic ability from music to pottery. Although he was probably hit the hardest. Early on he showed an interest in theatre and music. For the purpose of honing his crafts Dae joined a local theatre group called E.G.Y.P.T. (Experimental Group Young Peoples Theatre) Hes been with the group for more than 10 years now. Some believe the group held him back from greater endeavors. If you hear it from Dae, he thinks it was greatest thing that happen to him. "The experience with E.G.Y.P.T. thus far, through all the dysfunction that community theatre brings with it, the journey has been a priceless one..." I was allowed total CREATIVE FREEDOM and full support to help me bring my visions into reality... all while being in a positive encouraging enviroment!!!!...What artist wouldnt desire that? Endowed with a healthy imagination most likely due to the lack of. Dae Ahzae was allowed to write and compose music for the original plays the local group put on. Gaining his first credit as a composer at the age of 15. All throughout elementary and junior high he studied music & theatrics, he jumped from the trumpet to clarinet and eventually the piano. During the highschool years he attended Paseo Performing Arts Academy where he studied acting and learned The Stanislavsky Method of acting and racked up tons of best actor awards. In those four years he performed in more than 20 productions scoring lead roles in more than half of those. Atlast, the awkward shy kid had found his home on the stage. After graduation the theatre enviroment wasnt available for Dae to vent and thats when he turned back to music. Dae Ahzae worked odd jobs from cutting grass to giving massages he saved all his money and built a modest home studio in the basement of his mothers house. He spent the next few years emersing himself in piano, music theory, studying the legends, learning exotic scales, recording nature, experimenting with sound, and crafting his own unique style. Friends & family often refer to him as the "mad scientist" for locking his self away for days without proper sleep or outside contact. Being exposed to so many art forms has made Dae into the type of artist that other artist enjoy to be around. For 10 years he has poured his heart and soul into art, recording more than 400 songs. About 2 years ago he started working on an actual album. That album became "Thirsty Water." If you have an ecclectic taste in music and a hungry ear for innovation, this is the CD missing from your collection. Dae Ahzae''s lyrics/vocal ability is raw, magical, warm, playful, scary, yet sweet, and at moments strangely alien like. The music alone gives a sort of esoteric outer body like feeling to the listener. The sounds he chooses and the unique way he layers them creates textures that make this album a jewel for real music lovers. On the right day its the perfect recipe for one to transmute to some strange and intriguing place!!! Hes currently working on visual representation for "Thirsty Water" (the music videos/short films) hes in the process of filming a live concert and interview which will all be put on DVD & released this fall. Also be on the lookout for Dae on film, in front and behind the camera. Among other things Mr. Ahzae is also an inventor, but his greatest accomplishment yet is the fact that hes self produced & found a way to share it with YOU and ALL the WORLD without the help of a major label!!!!.
