Details:
Danny Rood, author-composer-performer, is launching his new album after 30 years of performing music in Quebec, Canada and the United States. You Shine like the Sun marks the return to his solo career. He is offering us twelve original tracks inspired by blues and some British essence, a mix of compositions taken directly from his guitar and original texts inspired by his everyday life.

Danny Rood and his guitar have travelled a long way before going solo. After being part of many groups such as Flash Back and Tunisia, he accompanied performers like Francine Raymond and Norm Brunet. Yet it was while working with Aldo Nova on stage as well as in the studio that Danny got noticed by the professional music milieu. In 2001, he contributed to the successful show British Invasion at the Montreal Casino. This repertoire from the sixties was played for 72 nights and ended with his ultimate performance for the Célébrations 2002 at the Théâtre St Denis. In 2002, Nanette Workman discovered him and they worked together on a first collaboration.

While playing other people''s music, Danny Rood continued to compose his own original material. In 1992, he recorded Naître en amour. This song figured on the CD Compilation MIDEM Cannes 1993 which was distributed in 17 European countries. He continued to demonstrate his multiple talents in France when the OFQJ chose him as the representative of Quebec at St Malo. In 1995, Wiz Art Productions produced his first French album intitled Aux Quatre vents. He was then able to count on a solid team; formed of Denis Samson (Charlebois and Luba), Mara Tremblay, Benoît Piché (Colocs) and Jean Houd (Gerry Boulet). Unfortunately, this album never made it to the record store shelfŠ

He then participated in contests and seeded semi-finalist twice at Ma Première Place des Arts at montreal, first in 1995 and then in 1996. He also continued to collaborate in co-writing with such artists as Aldo Nova, Sari Dajanni and the guitarist, Christian Peloquin.

In 2002 and 2003, Danny Rood returned on stage to present his new solo project: a blues repertoire 100% original in English, which he decided to record at the public¹s request. In 2004, You Shine Like the Sun is created, entirely realised by Danny Rood (voice, guitar, bass). For the occasion, he can count on his eternal partners: Denis Samson at the piano and the organ, as well as Daniel Lemay at the drums. He also made some place for two back vocals: Marilyn Carnier and Andrée Simard (Allégria, Cirque du soleil).

With many shows in 2006 and a great performance at the International Jazz Festival of Montreal in July 2006, poeple discover Danny Rood more and more...

The 2006 season will be a blues one with concerts around Quebec and an album to offer to the public!
