Details:
Emerging like a scruffy bear from a too-long hibernation, Blues man DZ (Dzerigian), lean and mean with an itch to get back into action, has put together an eclectic new album, Is As Does which offers a variety of genres, moods and sounds.

Though I’ve always enjoyed his down and dirty Blues baritone, Is As Does brings a vocal blend reminiscent of Dire Straights and Lightning Hopkins, allowing a take-it-easy look at social satire, eulogies, love and war. The selection of sounds covers decades from the 50’s on, with some new takes on some surprising old hits springing up amongst his original songs and instrumental pieces.

DZ has added more instruments to his acoustic and electric guitar lexicon, like sitar, dobro, and shakin’ eggs. With some other fine musicians backing him up with saxes, axes, keyboards, percussion and vocals, each jumping track gives us the music of high gain Metal, Country Western, Protest Folksy, hints of Appalachia, Latin, and of course, down and dirty Blues. As the women folk in my life say about Is As Does, as their heads bob and their shoulders shake – “It makes you want to move!” Come on baby!
by Dennis Sigman for "Red Rock Review"

Is As Does is DZ’s latest album that’s full of surprises. Fans of Country, Blues, Rock and even Folk will love the unavoidable beat and thought-provoking lyrics that speak to your heart and dance with the mind. With the eye of a poet who notices the details of life, DZ captures moments that change the way we see ourselves.

DZ music moves easily from his poet’s rant in “The Way of Things” and “World War Blues” and to the lightness of his upbeat “The Twist” and “The Witch Doctor” (Who’d a Thunk It? He did!)– it’s irresistible movin’ music.

“He’s a Blues man, a Country Boy, a Rocker and Mild Jazzbo” says his critics. Traversing from one genre to another with smooth agility and ownership, DZ mixes the rough with the smooth, the raw with the finessed, all with consciousness and the confidence that comes from having been there.
