Drowning Sailors Lullaby writes and produces bleeding-edge popular music, often in a thematic, movie-like presentation. With each CD, Drowning Sailors Lullaby musically explores themes and mood developments relating to various film genres and or the medium of film in general. Fans have likened the music to having Jeff Buckley, Sting, and Pink Floyd in the same band (sans fisticuffs). Drowning Sailors Lullaby has a mature original style that highlights strong vocals with rich harmonies paired with evocative melodies and rich textures. Currently Drowning Sailors Lullaby has just finished production on their second compact disc and is preparing a live show to promote sales.
All the music was written and arranged by Stacy Parrish and Steve Cordova. In addition to his roles as lyricist, songwriter, lead singer, keyboardist and guitar player, Stacy handles production and audio engineering. As a multi talented, creative artist, he knows how to get the most out of a song. Stacy has produced and recorded a number of artists for various labels across the US with impressive success. Stacy aspires to be the first producer to capture for posterity the unique textures of oxygen starved Sherpas singing Tibetan nursery rhymes while ascending the South Col of Everest.
An accomplished guitar player and songwriter, Steve tends to delve into areas not commonly explored by most guitarists due to his unorthodox approach to chord voicing/association, along with his offbeat ideas concerning embellishment and rhythm. As a result, the authorities have occasionally felt the need to detain him! Steve''s collection of out-of-the ordinary state of the art guitar gear also sets him apart from most guitarists as it allows him to create and weave a variety of unique textures and colors that are a trademark of Drowning Sailors Lullaby. Yeah, that''s guitar, really! No! those are not keyboard tracks!
The rhythm section of Carlos Cordova (bass) and Andrew Poling (drums) has extensive experience writing, recording, and performing/touring with original music in addition to their musical careers as first-call studio and live performers. Carlos is a highly sought after bassist for both studio and live performances and is adept in many styles of bass playing. As a musician he moves seamlessly from style to style and among his many instruments, including electric fretted and fretless basses as well as acoustic double bass. Carlos is an accomplish guitarist and songwriter as well. Unfortunately Carlos often seems to have two left feet and a predilection for only the finest blends of imported coffee.
Andrew is the premier drummer in our market or region of the country and is highly sought after in the studio as well as on the stage. He has been a sideman to an impressive list of well-known performers from jazz to rock to country and beyond. To list of all his studio credits as a drummer/percussionist as well as a writer and arranger of commercial music would require the harvesting of a small forest. He is a professional guitarist as well. Andrew is currently the tallest member of the band.
