In a genre that is popularized by some of the best bands who ever walked the face of the earth, including Led Zeppelin, ACDC, The Black Crowes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, and now The White Stripes, the Dirty Clydes have managed to carve their own niche in a wide open field of music. With their very own blend of down-home southern blues rock and straight up in your face, foot stompin, honky tonkin, rock and roll, the Dirty Clydes have brought about a sound that encompasses all of the greats. Songs like “Dream Lady,” and “Dirty Stomp,” have such a classic sound that they really give the listener a feeling of nostalgia, and leave you wanting more. With more brooding and emotional songs like “Wrong or Right,” and “Tear Me Up,” really bringing their sound to a whole new level.
The group is fronted by Singer/Guitarist Cooper Ayon who is also the main songwriter and lyricist for the band. Backing him up on vocals and guitar is Travis Manning with “Lawless” playing one mean bass guitar, and Dave “Stix” setting the rhythm on drums. The group’s live shows are spontaneous and fun, but powerful at the same time. From start to finish they move the listener through such a diverse set of emotions it is impossible not to get sucked in. The group has played mainly in the Southern New Mexico and West Texas markets with a goal to branch out in the near future to other markets across the country. With the unofficial release of their newest studio effort “Velvet Sleeve,” which was recorded at Nasty Cactus Studio in Las Cruces, NM, and their recent signing to guitarist Travis Manning’s independent label Nasty Cactus Music, the Dirty Clydes are ready to spread the word, and more importantly, spread the music.
