Biography:
"I would call myself a multi-instrumentalist / singer-songwriter. I come from a musical family and was taught to play guitar and sing at the age of five by my grandfather Lester J. Lalande. I quickly learned to perform and by the time I was in first grade I was up in front of my classmates singing and playing songs like "Sweet Georgia Brown" and "Camp Town Races." Growing up in South Louisiana, I was exposed to many different kinds of music. I played the trumpet throughout my Jr. years and also started a band in tenth grade with a few friends. By the time I graduated in 1979 I started to immerse myself in jazz recordings from Jean Luc Ponty, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Bill Bruford and others. I also played professionally in various club bands in the area. Not too long after that I went on the road playing everything from rock & country to cajun and blues music styles.

During the 1980’s and early to mid-nineties I fronted the rock band GANGSTER. This band gained notoriety in the southern region of the U.S. Our first CD entitled "Rock and Roll Hit Men" did very well in the southern regional market. We opened for many nationally known acts such as FOREIGNER, 38 SPECIAL, DAVID LEE ROTH, KANSAS, ZEBRA, SAIGON KICK and others. After the untimely death of one of our members (Pat Bearb) we disbanded. The remaining three members, Jackie, Wydell and myself reformed in late 1998 to record a tribute CD to our friend. The CD is entitled "I''ll See You Again".

At that time I was getting into contemporary Christian music. I built a studio combining analog and digital recording gear and started writing the songs for a new Christian CD. Out of the eleven tracks on the disc I wrote ten of them, arranged all of them and even played all of the instruments and did the vocals myself.

The CD, entitled "Calling All Hearts", was finally completed at the end of 1998 and was released on the Divine Recordings label. I also started a concert series for schools called the "Calling All Hearts Youth Concert Series". The series features myself playing music from my CD and candid conversation about my experiences and what music has meant to me in my life. My first Christian CD was so successful that I recorded another. This project entitled "Your Love Has Lifted Me" was released on December 28, 1999 on the Divine Recordings label. So where does the jazz come in? Well, it just seemed like a natural progression to go back to the music that was drilled into my head in the early years. My jazz recordings feature guitar melodies woven into and around smooth jazz chord structures. The new CD is entitled "Play On Words". I enjoy using computers to aid in my song writing and recording and I am affiliated with BMI as a writer and a publisher with a catalogue of over 150 songs. I am also very involved with my church as the full-time Choir Director."
