DESTINY FAIRE - THE ROCK OPERA

A Synopsis of the Story Within:

In an unnamed, but long ago time, the sleepy seaport village of Destiny Faire has withstood a three-year drought. In spite of the resulting economic hardships, the townspeople have remained harmonious in their daily relationships. Harmonious, that is, until they are visited by the curator of all evil, the Captain of the Spirit Ship.

With the help of his sidekick, Basil, the Captain seeks out disgruntled, disenfranchised souls and, by instructing them in the ways of the spirits Greed, Narcissism, and Hate, turns them into the world''s most powerful and destructive conquerors and zealots. These spirits reside beneath the deck of the Captain''s ancient sailing ship where, one by one, they expound on the advantages of each individual trait. The Captain, then provides instruction on how to wield the newfound power each spirit offers and watches as his new disciple rises to power and wrecks havoc upon the land.

The Creation of Destiny Faire:

The creation of Destiny Faire began in 1994 when producer/composer/keyboardist, Rick "Doc" Barrack, had just completed work on a separate project and was searching for just the right group of musicians to share his vision of the "Theatrical Rock" movement. After having witnessed the riveting energy, heavy guitar tones and dynamic vocalizations of the heavy metal band, Zaxas, his search was complete. Zaxas had recently completed and released their first CD and eagerly embraced this new vision and direction. It wasn''t long before the group of diversified and talented musicians knew that something special was evolving. Band director/percussionist/song writer, "Rico" Veale, provided the discipline and energy necessary to sustain the three and one-half year writing process, and, it was "master" lyricist/song writer/vocalist Dale Anthony that put to word the story concepts the group inspired, and provided the gargantuan voice and character that would eventually become the powerful persona apparent in the character of "The Captain". Guitarist Mikki Suvia gave foundation to the music with his driving complex rhythms, timely solo work and creative inspiration. The team was elevated one step further by the addition of writer, Caroline Nichols, who helped direct and refine the band''s story line and character development.

Remarkably, this was still only the beginning of the creative talent that would ultimately be added. Soon followed the addition of producer/engineer/vocalist and multi-talented musician Ronnie Sarkisian. A musician since infancy, Sarkisian had been the founding member of the hard rock band "Maedae". A drummer for life, Ronnie adapted his extraordinary musicianship and assumed the duties of bass guitarist. His contribution didn''t stop there as he also teamed with Barrack in the writing of Destiny Faire''s elaborate orchestration arrangements and the duo assumed "the producer''s" role for the one hour and forty-two minute double CD. Sarkisian also served as chief engineer during the band''s second three and one-half year stint during the recording process, which was undertaken at the privately owned, Gargoyle''s Castle Recording Studio in Vista, California. During this time it was Anthony that provided the consistently magnificent direction to the individual vocal performances.

When Anthony originally put pen to word in the development of the character that would become "Aaron", he will tell you that, even at that time, these parts were written specifically with one voice in mind. That voice fresh from demonstrating it''s power as Jesus, in the stage production, Jesus Christ Superstar, belonged to local vocal legend Johnny Bisaha. When offered the role, Bisaha jumped at the opportunity to once again work side by side with Anthony and, as an unexpected bonus, he brought with him the sweet essence of pure vocal feminine tone that belongs to his betrothed and still romantic interest, Holly Bisaha. Holly has assumed both the recorded and stage role of Sophie.

With these four monsters of vocal talent together, one would expect that there remained no more room for either ego or opportunity, yet one role loomed large that needed filling. After a search that extended two full years, in walked the astounding talent that is Danny MacArthur. Cast as Wertz, the patriarch-figure of Destiny Faire, Danny has brought resounding strength and compassion to his masterful performance.

With tracks now completed, mixed and critiqued by the summer of ''03, the group then gave responsibility for adding the final polish to Chris Bellman of Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, California. Chris added subtleties and influence that brought to strength the depth and power intended by the creators.

It is only so often that the stars align in a manner that "magic" can engage its presence, yet for the fortunate many who are certain to engulf this work, I would assure a unanimous agreement, that one such time has occurred during this period of "The Creation of Destiny Faire".
