FROM TONY AWARD-WINNING BROADWAY COMPOSER MAURY YESTON ("Nine", "Grand Hotel", "Titanic"):

" ''Songs of a Mother''s Love'' is an extraordinary debut album for a singular talent, Maureen Dechter, destined to become a classic. Deeply personal, and universal at the same time, each selected song commemorates a milestone in the growth and development of both mother and her son, as a kind of journal from birth to early maturity. The variety of styles, from ''Over the Rainbow'' to late Sondheim, is wide ranging, and Ms. Dechter''s command of each genre is masterful. Most particularly, the two Sondheim selections receive an orchestral and vocal treatment radiating a rare beauty and deep warmth reminiscent of ''Send in the Clowns.'' A concept album performed by the cream of Los Angeles studio and jazz musicians with humanity and wonderful musicality, ''Songs of a Mother''s Love'' is one of a kind."

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM MAUREEN DECHTER:

I have been singing since the age of five. It was and still is my passion. Whether performing in front of an audience or recording in a studio, singing is what makes me truly feel alive. How is it then that fifteen years ago I stopped? If you are a parent, you may know the answer...everyday life stepped in and took over! All of those dreams were put on the back shelf so that a child could be raised with all the attention he so deserved.

But, when my nine year old son came to me one day and asked what else I did besides being a mom, I decided to dust off the dreams and show him. "Songs of a Mother''s Love" is my gift to my son. It tells our story of the past thirteen years together. And, at the same time, it helps to explain who I am, separate from him. Hopefully, in years to come, when he listens to these songs, he will remember how much his mother loved him and that dreams really do come true.

BIOGRAPHY: MAUREEN DECHTER

Maureen Dechter is an extraordinary singer with a wide range of musical experience. While growing up in the Washington D.C. area, she was soloist with her local choir as well as being featured performer in many musical productions. Moving west to to attend Arizona State University, she continued performing as well developing an interest in children''s theater.

Taking a hiatus from her schooling, she spent the next few years traveling around the country as lead singer with various pop groups as well as being a resident performer at a noted musical dinner theater in Tucson.

Moving further west, she acquired her Bachelor''s Degree at California State University at Los Angeles after which she continued her singing career, most notably as a featured vocalist with The Mike Curb Congregation. With the Congregation, she made several screen and stage appearances, including the film "The Magic of Lassie," the Dinah Shore television show, and live concerts starring Sammy Davis Jr., Sid Caesar & Imogene Coca, and Steve Lawrence & Edie Gorme. In addition, she was the solo singer on 2 single releases with the group.

She later became a featured singer with the Ray Anthony Orchestra where she met her husband-to-be Brad. After a few more years singing in the Los Angeles area, including an extended tour with the Billy Vaughn Orchestra, Maureen decided to take time off to raise her son Graham. As Graham reached young adulthood, she decided that it was time to resume her singing and created her first solo album project as a labor of love, chronicling her experiences as a mother in "Songs of a Mother''s Love," Dreamtown Records'' first release.

In addition to future album projects, Maureen is now featured vocalist with the Brad Dechter Octet. An avid and strong supporter of music education, she was a long-time member of the board of directors of the San Luis Obispo County Youth Symphony, in which her son Graham was concertmaster. She is still most proud of being mother to Graham, now a jazz guitar student at Eastman School of Music.

Brad Dechter is an accomplished arranger, orchestrator, and saxophonist who has been a professional musician since 1971 and an active participant of the Hollywood recording industry since 1981.

A native of Los Angeles, he grew up in a musical family in which his father Ted, himself a noted classical and big band trombonist as well as a beloved local music teacher, was his primary influence and teacher. Originally playing clarinet and then progressing to saxophone, Brad gained valuable experience performing with symphonies, big bands and various other groups before attending Yale University, where he received his Bachelor''s and Master''s Degrees in music.

Primarily working in motion pictures, he has orchestrated or arranged all or parts of over 180 feature films including the scores for Academy Award-nominated films "The Village," "The Passion of the Christ," "The Fugitive," "The Prince of Tides," " My Best Friend''s Wedding" and "The First Wives Club." ABOUT THE ALBUM:

Everything about "Songs of a Mother''s Love" is world-class: from Maureen''s vocals to Brad''s arrangements to bonus arrangements contributed by John Clayton and Byron Olson to engineer John Richards to the amazing musicians. But the most striking aspect is the personal story told of Maureen & her son Graham''s relationship. There is a 28-page booklet with letters, photos and memoribilia detailing select times in their life together that is at once beautiful and tear-evoking.
