With the common vision of longevity and creating inspiration over stardom, Lot 16 brings to life personal songs that become instantly relatable, emerging as what guitarist Fabio Bargna calls "a hard rock band with good song sense." The artists behind the band, Paul Bannon (lead vocals/guitar), Rob Tebaldi (bass/vocals), Fabio Bargna (guitar/vocals, Dan O''Connor (Keyboards/Vocals) and new addition Bobby Chappell (Drums), were bound by a rhythm, a common ground that says, "Life CAN be what we want it to be, NOT what we''re told it should be."
From the dynamic and melodic single Superstar of NY to the angst-ridden Frustration to the playful and energetic Stupid Girl, the group consciously shunned the idea of creating a product in an industry of presentation, focusing instead on making the music.
Says Fabio, "Music is art, it can''t be marketed and sold like a car. I''ve had different favorites at different times in my life, but I''ve loved them because their music made me feel something, and that''s what it''s all about." Lead singer Paul Bannon adds, "It''s about emotion. I feel music as opposed to listen to it so the more emotional you can make me feel, the more impressed and touched I am."
With diverse influences, Lot 16''s sound remains fresh, though reminiscent of the great rock of the past. It is at once original and accessible, with the heartfelt angst of singer/songwriters and the raw edge of garage rockers.
Having just released their debut CD and quickly making their mark on the live music scene, their original brand of NYC melodic rock is finding a home among legions of fans on their upward spiral of success..........and this is only the beginning!
Paul Bannon: Irish lead singer Paul Bannon looked to music to express his emotions. He had music in his blood (his grandfather was the all Ireland Champion Fiddle and Harmonica player), but at a young age, he discovered something different....Rock! "I could feel something powerful rise from the pit of my stomach and I couldn''t contain myself, screaming- What the f*** is this! From that moment I was addicted....." He learned quickly, formed a band and began to play the local scene amidst a devastating political climate. But life in Ireland grew fraught with difficulties and after a few years, he ventured to America to follow his dream. "When I left Ireland the radio stations only seemed to play songs with fake, computerized drumbeats, samples and electronic loops. Rock was completely abandoned so when I came to America I was overwhelmed by the respect that people had for it." Early life in America brought it''s own challenges (including a brief stint of homelessness), but rather than give in to despair, Paul found inspiration for perhaps his most poignant song, Wonderful Life. "If I die today, I know that I wrote one song that truly conveyed emotions to people."
Rob Tebaldi: A mainstay on the New York City club circuit, Rob has performed with many of the Tri-State Area''s finest musicians, as well as from abroad, including Steve Luongo and Godfrey Townsend (The John Entwistle Band). In 1999, Rob toured with Ruf Records recording artist Kevin Coyne, featuring a live spot on NPR''s Mountain Stage. In 2002, he went back on the road with then, 13 year old NJ guitar phenom, Matthew Curran, in support of the Dio/Scorpions/Deep Purple Summer Ampi-Theater tour. His solo project produced the song Every Day Should Be Christmas, which developed a respectable indie following.
Dan O''Connor: He has a reputation as an extraordinary piano player with a sultry NY sound. Artist, composer and quintessential New Yorker, Dan has been making a name for himself as a solo artist and garnering acclaim overseas on two USO tours that brought him to Afghanistan, Turkey, Jordan and Iraq (right before the war!). Raised in upstate New York, with the early influence of his father, a musician and a nightclub owner, music became a staple of his upbringing and Dan found a release at the pianos of grade school and electric keyboards at home. As a young man, he found his own writing style, influenced by classical composers and the classic rock oldies but goodies. While the driving piano is reminiscent of Billy Joel, Dan melds his classical, rock, punk-rock, and blues background to fuel new compositions.
Fabio Bargna: "My earliest influences were Elvis movies, The Jackson 5, Soul Train and Saturday morning cartoons. It wasn''t until I discovered KISS that I got interested in playing music. After that, I was into Styx , Queen and Aerosmith, and around the start of high school, I discovered Rush......for the next 4 years, there was Rush and nothing else." Years later, Fabio later got into the metal scene, and found influences in bands like Guns n Roses and Jane''s Addiction. The early 90''s introduced him to the funk metal bands like Extreme and I Mother Earth, Maggie''s Dream (" the best band ever not to make it") and The Black Crowes, an influence that can be heard in his smooth southern-rock guitar riffs.
