Having spanned over forty years, the musical career of Lloyd Williams reads like a musical encyclopedia. As a singer/songwriter, he has performed all over the world; including England, parts of Europe and in the United States. Lloyd Williams has graced the stage with musical legends such as Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, as well as icons like Ben E. King, Mick Jagger, Otis Redding, Millie Jackson and many more.
He was the lead vocalist with the prominent European group The Triads (later known as Lloyd Williams and the Soul Caravan). While performing throughout Europe, he received a great deal of praise and recognition from many, including musical genius Stevie Wonder. After being introduced to Mr. Wonder by Ben E. King, Lloyd was invited to the United States.
Upon his arrival in the US, his career began to explode. He worked with Stevie Wonder at the famous Apollo Theatre, as well as with the Temptations, Little Charles, The Moments and Wilson Pickett. In the 70’s Lloyd took a break from performing to asses his life. During that time he began another chapter in his storied life as a husband and a father.
Many years had passed, however the musician in him still yearned to sing. So while on hiatus he wrote dozens of lyrics that he would add to his repertoire. After years of personal, relational and spiritual growth and maturity, he was once again ready to sing. However, this time he would move the crowd with a different kind of music…gospel!
In 2003 Williams employed music engineers and musicians to work with him in his home studio. He drew from his lyrical repertoire to create his first gospel album aptly entitled “Peace” which will be released on February 11, 2006 at Tremont Terrace Moravian Church in the Bronx.
