As of this time, there are only two states in the United States that has the authority to license reflexology practitioners. These are North Dakota and Tennessee. If you are from either of the two states, then good for you. It all starts with trainings and certifications

You need to have the right trainings and certifications in order to practice reflexology. Now the good news is that there are a number of training schools that offer trainings and seminars. In fact there are some schools as well that include the subject of reflexology in their curriculum. For starters, you may want to attend first the basic reflexology training course. And in many training schools the basic course will run from 15 to 30 hours. 

The basic training session will include lecture sessions, demonstrations and you will be allowed to apply what you have learned. You can also get in touch with massage schools since right now these schools also carry reflexology subjects and courses. But it should be noted that the massage therapists and the reflexology therapists are different. But the two overlap in a sense that the massage therapists also tackle some areas of reflexology. Get certifications

Most of the people looking for reflexology therapists will look for nationally certified therapists. If you want to easily get your clients in the market, then it is best that you are nationally certified as well. For certifications you may want to contact and get in touch with the American Reflexology Certification Board. 

The certification will involve 110 hours and will cover a number of subjects. For example you will be made to cover anatomy and physiology and you will be asked to study the history and the many practices of reflexology. 

You will also be asked to cover business and professional ethics. Other than these, there are certain requirements that should be satisfied as well before you will be given your national certification. You will be made to undergo some form of on-job training where you will be supervised by an instructor. And more importantly you are expected to pass the national board test. Once you hurdled all these things, then you can say that you are ready for reflexology.
