Jim was born and raised in the Boston area. He came from a musical https://www.tradebit.comle growing up, he rememebrs music always being played in his home.
His job, throughout high school and during the summer, was working in a local music store selling guitars. He emjoyed listening to well-known musicians who frequented the many small venue coffee shops in Cambridge’s Harvard Square; this influenced his music.
Jim has been playing for over 30 years. Three years ago he began studying music under Tim Uecker who encouraged him to begin composing his own music. He began recording simply as a way to have a record of his music. To his surprise, people enjoyed the music so he decided to release the first CD, “Radio In My Head.”
In spring 2006 Jim released “Back to You,” his third CD.
Jim’s musical style is diverse and described best as eclectic acoustic. Compositions are varied and range from ballads to blues. In our fast moving world, his approach is simple, straightforward and uncomplicated.
Jim draws on people and experiences for inspiration. The story behind writing “Back to You” centered around him frequently having to fly out of town on business. As the day of departure would draw near Jim''s wife, Frani, would become saddened. Jim would try to comfort and reassure her saying, “Don’t worry. I’ll always find a way to come back to you”.
Jim is accompanied by Tim Uecker on all his recordings.
Jim’s son Andy is an accomplished guitarist and accompanied Jim on acoustic guitar on Jim’s 2nd, CD, “Midnight Drifter”.
All of Jim''s CDs were recorded at Unusually Sound Recordings with Gabe Johnston as Engineer.
Jim occasionally plays in the Portland, Oregon area.
He believes the uniquely rich sound of an acoustic guitar stands on its own as an unparalleled and expressive instrument.
Jim and his wife Frani live in the Porland, Oregon / Vancouver, Washington area.
