As is the case in all legion of love recordings, Shine A Light was truly the result of the creative collective process. In this case a little outside the usual mix of writers, musicians and producers which appear on most LOL product.
“The essence of the song just happened one day to a fellow legionnaire”, says LOL musical director Brentwood Haynes. “We knew there was something there right away but no one was in any hurry to develop it. Eventually we all agreed that it was our obligation to help with the musical manifestation so we decided to bear down and finish writing it. As corny as it sounds, once we started recording it was as if some greater power was shining down on us.”
