Released on vinyl in 1987, and now available in limited release on CD-R, this CD is an instrumental guitar lover''s paradise.
Instrumental guitar is featured heavily, with several compositions by Celtic harpist Turlough Carolan, a ragtime tune composed by Pete Norman, the classical Pavanne by Ravel, and a soaring and rolling 12-string guitar instrumental in the seven-minute title cut, Wayfaring Stranger. Lee''s arrangement of Wayfaring Stranger was inspired by a performance by the legendary singer, Odetta, at the Summerfolk Festival in Owen Sound, Ontario.
The recording was a solid collection of traditional songs, including the first recording of some of Lee''s still-favorite Great Lakes maritime tunes (Persia''s Crew, and The Lumberman''s Alphabet), and the bluesy After You''ve Gone.
