Details:
Predominately self-taught, Eric Letta is constantly striving to listen, learn and take his playing to the next level. At age 25, he has risen to a level rarely achieved by musicians his age. In his debut album “Say,” Eric finally gets a chance to express his unique style through his original music.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Eric began his musical journey on the clarinet. His talent and love for music was noticed at an early age. By high school, he was winning numerous awards and solo citations on the saxophone, including “Outstanding Soloist” at the Tri-C Jazz Festival. At age 17, he helped form the band Basic Expression, a very successful jazz quartet that performed all around the greater Akron area. Eric was one of two tenor saxophonists in the State chosen to play in the Ohio All-State Jazz Ensemble in Columbus. At the time his professional career was taking off as a jazz saxophonist, Eric joined the rock band Higher Ground, which awed many audiences, sold out venues, and allowed Eric to expand his repertoire.

While attending Kent State University, Eric continued his musical education studying privately with two outstanding teachers and performers, Mike Vanarsdale and Bobby Selvaggio. At age 20, he joined the show band Special Effect, performing throughout Northeast Ohio and Pittsburgh. This extremely exciting band, which is now called Ovation, features Eric playing many styles including Motown, Rock N’ Roll, Disco, Swing and R&B.

Throughout his musical career, which is still in its infancy, Eric has performed at the House of Blues, Nighttown, the Cleveland Bop Stop, Severance Hall, the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, Scene Pavilion, Jacobs Field, the Cleveland Convention Center, the Cleveland Convocation Center and E.J. Thomas Hall.

In January 2006, Eric released his first full-length album entitled “Say,” which features seven original compositions and two arrangements of American Classics. In “Say,” Eric expresses his own unique voice on the tenor and soprano saxophones, creating music that is fresh and energetic. Incorporating traditional aspects of jazz (his influences include Dexter Gordon and Stan Getz) with a modern approach to harmony and rhythm, Eric attempts to keep the music spontaneous and fun. “Say” proves to keep the audience listening, and is filled with many pleasant surprises.
