Faded''s new CD "Take Me Anywhere" creates area "buzz"
Article by: Tammy Sadmen

"We don''t want fans," explains Ryan Kintz (vocals/guitar) of FADED, "our goal is to become friends with every audience we play for." Above writing, recording, and performing their songs, it would seem that making new friends is FADED''s top priority. They see the release of their latest LP, Take Me Anywhere, as merely a means to that end. "A fan is someone you can play music for, but a friend is someone you can share your life with," says Kintz. The distinction is subtle, but according to FADED, it is absolutely vital. C.S. Lewis insisted that "friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ''What! You too? I thought I was the only one!''" According to Kintz, that moment is what the Take Me Anywhere album is meant to create. "We didn''t make this record for people who like hearing our music...this record is for everyone who wants to really listen."

During the five months of production for their latest release, FADED (also Dan Robertson, bass/vocals & Jared Knowland, drums/vocals) enlisted a number of industry heavy hitters to help make the Take Me Anywhere LP everything they knew it should be. Engineering duties fell to Dean Baskerville (Everclear, Cheryl Crow) and Dave Friedlander (Prince, George Clinton). Cory Knowlannd (Lowdown, Falling Closer) headed up the mix, and George Marino (Our Lady Peace, Metallica, Velvet Revolver) delivered the master. "It''s only one man''s opinion," recalls Robertson, "but it''s still flattering to hear George Marino describe your record as ''pretty damn good''."

Considering themselves the lovechild of Foo Fighters and Coldplay, it appears that FADED is destined to save the world from the likes of Marilyn Manson, R. Kelly, and Ashley Simpson. So, with the long awaited release of Take Me Anywhere now under their belts, FADED is hearing the same question from every direction: What''s next? "That question used to freak me out," explains Robertson. "The answer was in the hands of the public, and the public can be so temperamental." FADED''s outlook has since changed, though. Wherever it is that FADED finds themselves next, it will be the friends they''ve made that take them there. "At some point, I found myself saying, ''All I ask is that you take me somewhere, so by all means, take me anywhere.''"
