John Flanders is a saxophonist/flutist and composer originally from Ohio, who draws from such artists as Coltane, Cannonball, Brecker and Bob Berg, to Pat Metheny, Yellowjackets etc.
The group Double Helix is energetic and exploratory with plenty of solo action and great guests on all their discs from percussionist Alex Acuna (Weather Report etc.) to guitarist Ike Willis (Frank Zappa).
The music weaves from funk to straight ahead jazz and latin. Wurlitzer electric piano and baby grand acoutic piano also color the bands sound. Great listening, and unique music from this fun and tasty ensemble.
