Saxophonist, Dave Finucane presents his first CD as a leader with seven originals in “Valerie’s Song”.

He was born in Tarrytown, New York and moved to Boston in 1982 to study at the New England Conservatory of Music. After working with big bands Orange than Blue and the George Russell Living Time Orchestra, Dave found his way back to New York in the early 90’s gigging and teaching at the Music Conservatory of Westchester. In 2000 he co-founded the Westchester Jazz Workshop and directed its performance space, One Station Plaza, in Peekskill, New York which featured weekly performances by many talented NYC jazz players. He also ran its youth jazz workshop. While at One Station Plaza, Dave had the opportunity to perform with: John Abercrombie, Billy Hart, Eddie Henderson, Jay Azzolina, Shunzo Ono, Don Friedman, James Weidman, Tony Jefferson, Kenny Wessel, Johnathan Kreisberg, Roberta Piket, Franck Amsallem, Scott Wendholt, David Berkman, Cameron Brown and the other musicians on this cd.

Finucane’s previous recordings as a sideman are with Chuck Zeuren ‘Why Not’, Red Records; Jay Brandford ‘Seven Point Perspective’ Acurate Records; ‘Orange then Blue’ and ‘Funkalero’, GM Records; Gunther Schuller and Orange then Blue ‘Jumpin’ in the Future’, GM Records.

Dave moved to Durham, NC in August, 2005 with his wife and two boys.

John Hart-Guitarist
A fixture on the New York music scene for the last 20 years, guitarist John Hart has distinguished himself both as a recording artist and bandleader and as a sideman whose credits span the spectrum of the many genres of jazz.

From mainstream to free improvisation, blues to funk, John’s ease at negotiating the demands of any idiom is evidenced by a look at some of his musical associations. Known for his longtime tenure with Hammond B3 organ master Jack McDuff, John has also worked with cutting edge and rising young stars such as Brian Blade, Larry Goldings, Chris Potter and Javon Jackson.

Since arriving in New York in 1984 John has performed and/or recorded with Jack McDuff, Terumasa Hino, Jimmy Smith, Lou Donaldson, James Moody, Jon Hendricks, Brian Blade, Javon Jackson,, Bob Belden, Chris Potter, Larry Goldings, The Maria Schneider Orchestra, Rick Margitza, Joey Defranscesco, Bob Berg, Randy Brecker, Harvie Swartz, Jaki Byard Nick Brignola, Ira Sullivan, Mike Manieri, Jim Pepper, Bill Bruford, Bernard Purdie, Clark Terry, David “Fathead” Newman, Hank Crawford, Nnenna Freelon.

Mike McGuirk-Bassist
Mike McGuirk began his musical career on the bass in Portland, Oregon. At age eleven he began playing the electric bass and, while in high school, devoted his efforts to jazz and the acoustic bass. From early on he was interested in exploring the melodic possibilities of the acoustic bass as well as its traditional supportive role. He went on to study at
the University of North Texas with Jeff Bradetich, where he received a bachelorss degree in Jazz Studies.

In 1997, he won the International Society of Bassists jazz bass competition. Soon after, he moved to New York where he continues to focus on developing his musicianship towards the goal of equalmusical participation in whatever situation he’s in. Since arriving in New York, he has performed throughout North and South America, as well as Europe and Asia. In recent years he has played and/or recorded with John Abercrombie, Joey Baron, Marc Copland, Billy Drummond, Don Friedman, Tim Hagans, Eddie Henderson, Andy Laverne, David Liebman, Mulgrew Miller, Adam Nussbaum, Renee Rosnes, Bennie Wallace, Walt Weiskopf, and Eliot Zigmund among others. Mike McGuirk frequently plays in the ensembles of John McNeil, as well those of John Abercrombie and Marc Copland.

Anthony Pinciotti -Drummer & Percussionist
Anthony Pinciotti is a dynamic, innovative drummer well-versed in jazz, rock, and world music. Based in New York, Anthony performs and tours extensively with many of the most vital, forward-looking musicians on the scene today. Pinciotti has also worked with masters the likes of James Moody, Kenny Werner, Gary Bartz, Ira Sullivan, Kenny Baron, Mike Stern, and Sheila Jordan to name a few. Anthony began playing professionally throughout the Midwest at the age of thirteen, working with many Motown and jazz greats, including trumpeter, Marcus Belgrave. In 1992 multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan invited Anthony to relocate to Miami, Florida to be his drummer. While there he had the opportunity to play with Pat Metheny, https://www.tradebit.comnie Smith, Andy Laverne, Frank Foster, and Warren Bernhard. In 1994 Anthony moved to Chicago where he led several successful groups. Anthony made the move to New York in 1998. Since then he has been on a steady rise to the forefront of improvised music.
