Details:
Christopher J. Fiore, a young bassist active and well known in the NY/NJ music scene for some time, loved his family and his music. He loved every aspect of music: performing, composing, listening, and teaching. By all accounts, he was a very talented musician. He received high praise for his teaching and his work with young musicians. In the last months of his life, he began to compose more than ever, anxious to complete an album of his original compositions.

Chris'' friendship was always unconditional. His love of and admiration for his friends and colleagues was unlimited. For Chris, supporting his fellow musicians was a total commitment. If he weren''t playing with them, he would go to see them perform whenever he could. Chris had great belief in his own talent and the talent of so many of the musicians with whom he performed. He named his CD Jazz Stars to underscore his belief that they were all stars and had earned the right to be recognized as such.
He took great joy in simple things: nature, the ocean, summers at the shore, a walk in the woods. He was a great fan of Star Wars movies and, of course, the New York Yankees!

Family was sacred to Chris. He adored his wife, Nancy, his mother and dad, Anita and Conrad Fiore, his brother Nick, and his stepson, Bryan. He used to say, "I am the luckiest guy on earth. I have the biggest, loudest and most supportive Italian family any one could have, and they are also the best cooks in the world." He loved his wife''s Colombian family too, and treasured the time he spent with Bryan, his nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Chris made his mark in jazz, classical, theatre and commercial/rock. In 2002, Chris finished the North American debut tour of the musical Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story. In his directorial debut, Chris was the musical director for the 2002 South Plainfield Summer Workshop presentation of Footloose 2. As a freelance bassist, he had performed with jazz vocalist Roseanne Vitro, saxophonist Dennis Mitchletree, and multi-instrumentalist John Kruth, at clubs such as Cleopatra''s Needle, The Cornelia Street Café, The Garage and the Knitting Factory. Chris was also an accomplished electric bassist and had recorded albums with Robert Mainwaring, Sun Palace, and again with John Kruth. In 1997 as part of the Newark Jazz Festival, he participated in a live broadcast over WBGO with the group Rites of Passage. He could be heard regularly with his own group The Iron Monkey in Jersey City, as well as at the Westfield Jazz Festival, in which he had participated for the previous five years. In addition, as an accomplished classical bassist, Chris performed regularly with the Garden State Philharmonic, the Bronx Chamber Orchestra, the Hunter College Orchestra, and the Verisimo Opera Orchestra

Chris holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance from New Jersey City University.
