Chris Kasper independently releases his sophomore album, Flying Boy. The 9-track album is a cohesive collection of songs that cross diverse musical boundaries with a unique songwriting sensibility. It reveals an individual who is in tune with the process of soul-searching and songwriting. Flying Boy takes the listener on a musical ride, ethereal, floating, delicate, and genuine. Kasper draws on influences such as Woodie Guthrie and Paul Simon, along with contemporaries like Iron and Wine and Ben Harper.
Chris Kasper was born in Hartford, CT, raised in Montvale, NJ. He lived in Morgantown WV during his college years and moved to Philadelphia in 2002 after releasing his first album, "Trust The Tale Not The Teller". It was quoted as being “brilliant and moving” by local reviews and the song “Favorite Highway” won Best Song at the 2002 Mountain Stage NewSong festival. Chris also placed 2nd overall, making him the only NewSong artist to receive two awards.
Since then, Chris has played festivals and shared bills with Ben Arnold, Amos Lee, David Berkeley, Keller Williams, Bela Fleck and Peter Rowan. He recorded his second CD, "FlyingBoy" (2006) and released the single “And You Wait”: one of several Chris Kasper songs that receive regular airplay on WXPN (home of the World Cafe). He has toured the US and frequents the top venues in Philly, New York, Boston, and Chicago. He continues to play plenty of music with plenty of musicians in Philadelphia as a songwriter, a guitar player, and a singer. He lives in Manayunk with his dog Shibley.
