MP3 Codename - Tornado Warning

Jazz-infused Funk Rock

7 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Jam-band, JAZZ: Jazz Fusion

Details:
Codename''s debut studio release! A mix of fan-favorite compositions and studio improvisations.

Tornado Warning is raw - performed "live" in the studio. It has a more relaxed feel than the intense live experience, and provides a basis on which to contrast live versions of songs from their "standard" on the album.

Compositionally, Codename''s songs are a fusion of tightly composed prog-rock arrangements, high-energy rock n'' roll, jazzy, sophisticated harmonies, and funked out dance grooves.

When Codename jams, they truly explore the unknown, swiming through key signatures, searching for new patterns, tapping into that tight pocket they create when their eyes are closed and the whole audience is zoned in with them.

Having spent months apart from each other, only to meet and play for the occasional bar gig, Philly-based jazz-funk jammers Codename reunited last May to record Tornado Warning, their first full-length featured album, and exploded overnight on the local music scene. This past summer’s release of Tornado Warning, featuring “The Train”, gave birth to what can only be described as the summer of Codename. Their previous roster had consisted of playing house parties, hookah bars, even high school graduations. 2005 was different. Local Philly bar favorites North Star Bar and The Fire were among the first to take interest in this heavily rock and blues influenced quartet and booked them as openers. Opening slots became regular at both bars and the band was soon the top headlining act at The Fire. On Thanksgiving Eve, the band was booked by Electric Factory Concerts to play the Theater of Living Arts (TLA). Boasting bar and venue crowds of 400 friends, family, old fans and new fans, Codename established itself as a stand-alone bunch of dudes who just played the hell out of their instruments, contributing strikingly original sets of inspiring and soaring improvisations to the modern jam-music scene. The soulful connection is apparent between Adam Nash (keys/piano), Jon Joffe (guitar), Greg Halbkram (bass), and Sal Galati (drums), as their chemistry both on and off the stage combines unique energy, vision, and sense of adventure that all goes into the creation of the jazz-infused funk rock sound that is Codename.
