Let me introduce to you Cotton, a guitar-wielding teen crooner from Hartford, CT. Born, Willie Joe Stinson Cotton on July 14, 1988 (You Do The Math!). When you hear this kid you’ll understand what all the fuss is about and how inevitable it is that he’s on his way to be a household name! Cotton is a true musician and sensation. He is a singer, rapper and writer who also plays the guitar and keyboards and can dance and act. He can come across as the next R&B/ Hip Hop/ Pop dance sensation or he can flip the script and move into an acoustic unplugged piece, with just him singing and playing the acoustic guitar, Hip Hop rock crossover or Dance hall R&B/ Latin artist. His songs are so honest, it will tug at the callous heart of a young thug and at the same time swell the throats of females worldwide.
It is quite unique to see an R&B/ Hip Hop artist able to give such a compelling performance live, with just an acoustic guitar and voice at any age, but considering Cotton’s limited years, it is quite mind blowing! Besides his vocal chops, his guitar playing is both intricate and passionate. I know this is all a little hard to swallow. The term prodigy or phenom can easily be applied to Cotton and to top it off, he’s like the kid next door. He loves hangin with his boys and being chased by the girls. The last three tracks are Cotton playing acoustic guitar and singing live R&B unplugged in the studio. To see him live is quite an experience and his performances are very compelling.
Cotton’s Debut CD, produced and released under the Buddy Boy Record label, a subsidiary of Prestigious Entertainment, currently contains 14 songs. Jerry Wagreich, the producer and founder of Buddy Boy Records and one of the heads at Prestigious Entertainment worked very carefully with this project preserving Cotton’s veracity. Jerry made sure that Cotton was involved in all of the writing process of every song. Wagreich say’s, “with someone his age, it is easy for the lyrical content of a song to sound contrived. By Cotton collaborating with lyrics, it keeps the realness, which comes across in his vocal performances... besides, he is one of the most prolific writers I have ever worked with rivaling writers more than twice his age.
