Seeded in the great state of Oregon and cultivated under the bright lights of the Sin City, Slow Children have come up with a blend of 90''s NW alt rock, 70''s prog, and a splash of reggae and jazz that we affectionately call "Oregonic Kush Rock." As the term suggests, it’s music made by stoners for stoners, sure, but Slow Children’s music is really just plain great music made by great musicians for those who are seeking more musical fulfillment then what your typical cookie cutter radio stations are willing to provide.

Growing up together in the small sedate coastal town of Brookings, OR, Caleb Moffit (vocals/bass), Kevin Hutman (drums), and fellow classmate Bryan Bacci (guitars) started playing music around the age of 12. They practiced their instruments after school and participated in school music programs under the tutelage of music teacher, mentor, (and in the case of Caleb) father, Master of Music Jerry Moffit. By their mid-teens they were playing parties, community events and local bars, but they quickly grew restless in the lack of places and people to perform their music for. In the small, sheltered world of southern Oregon inspiration quickly ran low for the young men until one day mere weeks from their high school graduation it struck hard! They literally sold their cars, bought a van, packed their belongings and ran away from home.

In retrospect, there lies irony in the band’s name in relation to their then newfound escape. Like the yellow “Slow Children” warning sign always depicting a child running, the young band in their teens without adult supervision, were also on the run. Their logo, a variation of that sign where the kid holds a bottle in one hand a joint in the other, symbolically depicts the direction “Slow Children” went. Drifting throughout California the group played their edgy indie rock in bars and clubs, slept in parking lots, found friends to help them, and began building their legend. It was in Las Vegas where the van would die, and as they say… “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

In Vegas, Slow Children had found exactly what they were looking for and then some. Almost instantly they started meeting other bands and became regulars on the Las Vegas scene taking up residence at the local rock clubs, where they partied hard and rocked harder. The band quickly caught the attention of influential promoters, radio djs, and musicians on the Vegas scene. They also found a whole new level of the party as they discovered alll Local rock radio stations caught on with the release of 2006’s “Smoke the Evidence.” Singles “Duck Butta” and “Only the Shadow Knows” became local hits on the rock stations and the band found themselves headlining more and more major rooms on and off the strip including House of Blues, The Palms, Hard Rock Casino and they even headlined the 10 year anniversary show for Las Vegas’ longest running local music radio program, “Laurie Steele’s Homegrown Show” on rock station KOMP 92.3. “These guys rock the stage every time they perform,” said Laurie Steele, “If you haven’t seen them live, you’re missing out.”

Throughout 2008 the band took advantage of the geographical advantages of Las Vegas and started touring to outlying cities and states, most notably the northwest where they played many shows for audiences numbering in the thousands. They also spent much of the year in studio their perfecting their newest release, “Life in Reverie,” released in July 2009.

Well before the release of ‘Reverie’ many of the songs including “Feeling of Release” and “Misery for Sale” had already became some the bands more well received songs in concert. Promoters and music lovers alike took notice and the band started receiving comparisons to other great three pieces like Rush and Floater with the way they fill the room with the sound, ambience, and energy of a band twice its size. Audiences are properly rocked with their thundering rhythms and whisked away by their sweet melodies to places usually reserved for those of higher conscious, or on some really good drugs. Their lyrics are personal, truthful, and inspired by the pleasures and pains of being alive. The sounds that surround that message are inspired by the pleasures and pains of riding and coming down from life''s highs. Though they definitely strike a chord with the college-aged, indie and stoner crowds – the music of Slow Children transcends age, race, gender, and social or music genres. “I record a lot of different types of artists in my studio – hard rock and metal, hip-hop and reggae, and all kinds of music - but whenever ANYONE stops in and I’m working on a Slow Children song they are like, ‘Whoa – what’s this? That is amazing,” said Mauro Ferreira, owner/producer of Maurotone Studios. “NO ONE else I’ve ever worked with gets that reaction. They are unbelievable artists, that’s why I love working with them.”
