With her sultry voice and irresistible charm, CALI is turning heads with her debut project. "This material is like nothing out there right now," says Cali. The EP, which will be available June of ''03, is a mix of R&B, hip hop, classical and jazz, coming across with an acoustic pop feel that surpasses any expectations associated with pop performers today. "I''m really eager to go back into the studio and work on the next project. I feel like my voice is stronger than ever and I have so much more to say," reports Cali. The project was co-written with producer, DARRELL VANZANT. "I have never worked with an artist with such vocal maturity and strong work ethic at such a young age." DOVE award winner and track producer, TRAVIS WYRICK describes Cali''s voice as angelic, yet solid enough to grab your attention and keep it.
In a time of instant success that capitalizes on one aspect of performing, it is easy to see why this girl is rapidly becoming a household name. In addition to being a vocal performer, Cali is an extremely skilled dancer and well-trained actor. At fifteen, she was the youngest performer granted apprenticeship at the nationally known, CUMBERLAND COUNTY PLAYHOUSE, where she appeared in several musicals and productions. During the same year she toured with DANCE CARAVAN as a singing/dancing Caravan Kid, which gave her the opportunity to work with some of L.A.''s hottest choreographers, like BARRY YOUNGBLOOD. She has also worked with DARIN HENSON, GEO HUBELA AND SAVION GLOVER to name a few.
Although Cali''s talents have garnered many exciting opportunities, singing is her first love. When asked Cali will tell you, "I love to sing. It''s the reason I started dancing and acting. It''s the reason I''ve stayed in show business since I was a little girl!" Cali gained valuable experience working for Dolly Parton at Dollywood Theme Park''s famous "Christmas In The Smokies," show at the ripe old age of 9. The months of rehearsals and run of the show also left her well connected to local artists in the industry. Even though this is Cali''s first solo vocal project, she has spend numerous hours in the recording studio on group projects and singing back-ups for Christian and country artists. Other vocal credits include touring as a soloist with the nationally known, KIDS UNLIMITED show choir, solo concerts for civic and charitable events, school and church.
Cali toured the southeast during the summer to promote her EP release and had a blast with her back-up dancers/singers along the way. Within days of returning home, she and Mom were off to L.A. where she danced in a music video along with some of the industries most exciting dancers. However, Cali says, "Having a live audience and performing is the most fun aspect for the recording business. I want people to see my show and have a new appreciation for pop performers." Backed by an incredible batch of songs and a troupe of skilled dancers, CALI is well on her way to proving she is here to stay in the world of pop music.
