Details:
Federico Ughi has worked with these heavy musicians individually for years.
Combining all of these forces at once has resulted in a firm passionate reflection of what is happening today in NYC free jazz and improvising music. They are at the forefront of makeshift and creative music, where composition becomes a tool for exploration and not an obstacle.
On their debut CD "South Of Brooklyn" they perform all new original compositions by Federico Ughi (except Slight, already appearing on Federico Ughi Duets " The Space Within", Slam Records).
They have performed in NYC venues including the Knitting Factory and CBGB. They toured Europe in 2004 and are currently planning a tour in Europe in 2005.
All of the artists are based in New York City and have worked with such respected groups and musicians as:
Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra, Dizzy Gillespie, Mark Dresser, John Scofield,
John Abercrombie, William Parker, Sam Rivers, Matthew Shipp, Roy Campbell, Sabir Mateen, Sonic Youth, Wilber Morris, Bob Moses,
Jaco Pastorius, Enrico Rava, David S. Ware, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Spring Heel Jack, Butch Morris, TEST, Other Dimensions In Music, Yo La Tengo, D.J. Logic, Alan Silva, MMW (Medeski, Martin, & Wood),
and many others.
