MP3 Andrea Maxand - Edge of October

Rock n'' Roll inspired by a road trip through the American Southwest. Songs that sound absolutely nothing like music traditionally associated with the American Southwest. Scruffy crunchy guitar; sweet pop melodies; tangy.

10 MP3 Songs in this album (43:33) !
Related styles: Rock: Lo-Fi, Pop: Pop, Solo Female Artist

"Edge of October is one of those releases which you can’t put down and each time you listen to it, you will have a new favorite song. In a perfect world, Andrea Maxand would be on the lips of every indie hipster and her music would be steadily rising up the charts, but sadly this industry doesn’t work that way. Luckily there are outlets for beautifully talented musicians out there and you just hope everyone can experience how great they are."

TROY MICHAEL Innocent Words Magazine/March 18, 2010/Review of "Edge of October"

"With her delicate eyebrows and tousled reddish hair, Andrea Maxand has the chaotic charm of a young Sissy Spacek. You love her because she''s a little unkempt, a little left-of-center, a lot like yourself.

Things change when the Seattle singer/songwriter opens her mouth to sing, however. On her sophomore record with her eponymous band, "Where the Words Go," Maxand channels the icy resolve of goth divas like Siouxsie Sioux and the Cocteau Twins'' Elizabeth Fraser and the sultry posturing of trip hop vocalists like Heather Duby and sets the result against straightforward indie rock songs. "The other day, I tore my office apart looking for a CD--only to find it a couple hours later under the stack of papers right next to my computer. I feel that same kind of "Doh!" sensation (excitement that I found something coupled with embarrassment that it was sitting right under my nose all along) listening to Andrea Maxand''s excellent new EP. Although Maxand already has an album and plenty of shows under her belt, it''s likely that the Chris Walla-produced Paper Cut is going to be eliciting a good response. By turns urgent and intimate, it eclipses much of the Oly-influenced indie-chick set by proving that real emotion doesn''t have to equal a lack of technical, vocal, or songwriting proficiency. Definitely someone to look out for."
