CHUGANAUT BIOGRAPHY
CHUGANAUT’s music is loosely based around Rock’, Alternative’ & Twisted MetaL’ styles but is Nothing you can put your finger on’ to categorize -/- Mellow & Heavy Extremes!
CHUGANAUT has a little bit of everything, chaotic rhythms, quirky hooks and quick changes blended with heartfelt lyrics and an extensive vocal range that provides a combustible mix of passionate spontaneity.
Formed 2002, CHUGANAUT is Waikato based and combines a mixture of Different people with similar tastes’ who have combined their skills and found the secret ingredient that has created the unique sound of CHUGANAUT.
A highly energetic band delivering powerful performances, CHUGANAUT provide everything with good intentions in creative music that inspires people to have fun when they come to a show.
CHUGANAUT has had numerous articles written in magazines and newspapers, has received regular airtime on radio and has appeared live on C4TV, national TV and radio.
CHUGANAUT won the Woodstock Blue Battle of the Bands competition in 2003, taking out first place for Most Outstanding Guitarist, Most Outstanding Drummer and Peoples Choice Award and won the Bay of Plenty Regional Final of the Battle of the Bands in the same year.
In 2004 CHUGANAUT released two singles, produced its first music video and released a single on the Axe Attack Metal CD Compilation Vol 1.
Also winning the 2004 Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regional Final of the first ever World Battle of the Bands competition, going on to become the New Zealand Winners and ultimately the Worldwide Winners of the first World Battle of the Bands.
Opening the 2005 Big Day Out in Auckland to a crowd of thousands brought tremendous support from both old and new fans. Ensuing media reviews have been highly positive.
Playing major towns of New Zealand with the Axe Attack Vol Nationwide Tour has shown that CHUGANAUT’s music and visually intense stage presence has a fast growing popularity.
Touring nine venues of the north island during September/October 2005 CHUGANAUT promotes its new EP entitled Wolf’ (6 tracks). Released through Intergalactic Records, two of the tracks recorded at Area 51 studio, being the prize for winning the 2004 World Battle of the Bands.
The Wolf CD is complemented with a video of the same name, directed by Greg Page of Fish n Clips, which is being aired on Juice TV, XSTV and C4TV.
December 2005 saw CHUGANAUT play live on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, Australia as their first step in an international career.
