Krueger''s previous CD "Fine" received high accolades in the media as well as national awards. Its title cut, "Fine", won an honor award in the Great American Song Contest and some of its compositions were featured in the documentary film "Shandaken Remembered". Hailed as "something you''ll put on and won''t take off" in the Chronogram, a Hudson Valley monthly magazine, "Fine" recently charted number 19 on Canadian radio.
"I generally write when I feel pain and when I feel peace;"noted James Krueger. "Life provides enough opportunities for pain - the Catskills bring me peace." Among the cuts on "Bluebird in the Snow" that reference local places are Lanesville Rain, Catskill Mountain Snow, and North Lake Passage.
Though the singer has wrestled most of his life with mental illness , it has been said that his songs "reflect a deep, healthy connection with nature." (Chronogram). Krueger''s smooth vocals and finger-picked guitar transport his audiences to the landscapes he loves the most.
As a result of his music''s close ties with nature, Krueger has performed for the North American Bluebird Society, Sierra Club, Clearwater''s Environmental Center, the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, the New York Maple Growers'' Association, and the Hunter Mountain Foundation''s Mountain Culture Festival, among others. Krueger has also received numerous grants from the NY State Council on the Arts, the Dutchess County Arts Council, and the O''Connor Foundation.
"Bluebird in the Snow" is released on Krueger''s Kingston, NY label Contemporary Acoustic. To promote its release the company will donate $5 from the CD purchase price to one of three local environmental charities: The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, the Mid-Hudson Sierra Club, and the Woodstock Land Conservancy. In order to qualify for the donation, CDs must be purchased directly from Contemporary Acoustic or from Krueger.
