Details:
The 15 seconds remaining to show time may as well have been an eternity as Joseph scrolled down his mental checklist: make up...check, sequin vest buttoned...check, Capezio dance shoes tied...check, Starmakers? signature upside-down-frown...check. Sweat moistened his brow as the sparse crowd of parents and teachers sparingly applauded while the curtains came up on the Fantasy of the Stars stage. The synthesized trumpets of ?I?ve got Rhythm? rang through the depths of the multi purpose room as Joseph and the Magnolia 8th grade Starmakers show-pop choir came into the spotlight uniformly dancing a jazz square. Looking out upon the seemingly uninterested crowd a simple question came over Joseph--what the hell am I doing? While music had been his main interest for years, he suddenly realized there must be an alternative vessel to pursue it. It didn?t take him long to find it.

As the fifth and youngest child of a melodious family, Joseph had been saturated with music from birth. A healthy dose of Beatles, Carpenters and Billy Joel washed down with a heap of show tunes were just a part of his daily musical allowance.

Soon after Joseph threw in the towel on the show-pop troop he came across his dad''s unstrung guitar in the garage. His oldest brother Jesse had been pursuing music for years and was a natural choice for a mentor. And like any good mentor, Jesse started his eager protégé off with the essentials. That of course would be the Three Amigos theme song. Joseph quickly mastered the tune as well as the lyrics.

In the following years his hobby turned into passion. Joseph then began recording tracks for himself, playing with friends and even forming the short-lived band, the Cinematones. After high school he moved from the small Northern California town of Grass Valley to Southern California where he attends college and continues to play music.

Continually honing his craft, Joseph still surrounds himself with music in nearly everything he does. His eclectic influences of Coldplay, Damien Rice, Jon Brion, Jason Falkner, Elton John, James Taylor, Radiohead, the Counting Crows, and the Beatles can be heard in the diverse melodies and lyrics he creates.

Joseph is the constant professional, playing in a variety of venues and geographic locations, and continually working on his music whether it be at his home in Glendora or with his brother in Seattle. Young in years, 20-year old Joseph is wise in the ways of his passion and embraces the gift he attains and looks forward to the prospects his musical future holds.
