Details:
Every so often, a band rolls out a sound, a note, a chord progression - that feels both familiar and distinct at the same time. It''s hard to put your finger on what exactly it is, but there is something there that resonates. You can try and ignore it, for that would be much easier, but curiosity begs you to look underneath and see what''s inside.

Jounce formed in the small, suburban town of Wyckoff, NJ, technically 17 miles from Manhattan but really light years away. There, the foursome spent their days jamming in basements, parties, and local bars, all the while trying to come up with something they could call their own.

The band released two demo EP''s, one in 2000 and one in 2002, both of which helped them secure gigs around the Northeast and pursue their dream of convincing people that there are other things to do at a bar besides dance to Top 40, sing karaoke and watch sports.

Upon release from college in Spring 2004, Jounce relocated to a somewhat secluded property bordered by the Holyoke State Forest in Amherst, MA. They converted an old chicken hatch to serve as their rehearsal space and traveled extensively, playing shows with many of their influences including the Benevento Russo Duo, Lo Faber from God Street Wine and ulu.

After about a year there, the band retreated home to the New York area where they continued rehearsing and building a new, more mature sound. Keyboard player Dan Mallon hinted that he would eventually be pursuing grad school and the group gradually began to play with other area musicians.

In April of 2006, the band headed to Syracuse University where they would lay down the foundation for a new album with keyboardist Adam Gold. Pulling double duty as both musician and co-engineer, Adam worked with longtime Jounce friend and soundman Marco Centola to help turn out eight tracks that would then be mixed back in New York by Centola and mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Alan Silverman (The Kinks, Cheap Trick, Norah Jones).

Simply titled ''Jounce'' the album was released this past June to a raucous hometown crowd. Striving to shed all pre-conceptions, it was indeed something that had the band reaching down deeper and strong than ever before. Singer/Bass player Dan Tamberelli says, "It was good for us to get out of town those weekends and really just try to drop everything from our lives. Sometimes things just work for us that way. The sound is definitely more rock oriented for us, but I think most people who listen to it will appreciate the diversity that comes through."

With the album now complete and the band in full gear, Jounce will indeed further the rapidly growing momentum with their impassioned live show and unrelenting spirit.
