Johnny Ramos is one of the most talented recording artists
the Cape-verdean music scene has brought forth in the last decade.
With a honey sweet voice and a R&B-ish way of singing he has already won the hearts of fans worldwide.
Johnny’s first appearance as a vocalist in the Cape Verdean music-scene was on the debut album of Milena with the song Ilusão which he co-wrote with Sebastião dos Santos and Grace Evora. With that same Sebastião dos Santos he released Mobass Presents in 1997 which brought them great success around the world, not only did they win an award for best compilation-album at the CM-awards 2001, with the all time classic” Dam mas um chance” they also went song of the year in Cabo Verde. In that same year he entered popular CV band Splash! Splash at this time was one of the most popular bands in the scene which meant a lot of touring around the world and playing in different kinds of venues, from clubs to stadiums and everything in between.
Hits from Splash''s Nha Terra K''tchuva album such as “Tem Fe” and “Rependimento” helped put Ramos on the map and over the years of touring, writing and countless hours in the studio, Ramos decided to put out his solo album…Só Jota.
The long anticipated solo album (Só Jota) of Johnny Ramos has been released in the spring of 2005 on the brand new label “ Miss Jane Records”.
“Só Jota” is a polished collection of tracks laced with contemporary flavors of soulful R&B, Cabo Love, and what innovative producers Ramos and Nelson de Freitas (from Quatro+) describe as Ghetto Zouk. “Largal (bem bo dança ma mi)” is a good example of this captivating, bass drenched rhythm which is guaranteed to have nightclubs and car systems rocking all summer long.
