MP3 Jon Yeager - Truth & Volume

U2 meets the Beatles. Flawless

5 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, ROCK: Modern Rock

Details:
Jon Yeager began performing and recording with a Kansas City quartet, The Daybirds. His first taste of rock music began on the drums at age 14, but that gave way to the guitar, bass and piano. At 16, he began singing, and a week before graduating high school, Jon joined The Daybirds.

The Daybirds released their first EP within 7 months. Soon after, the LP "Turnstyle" was released in December of 1999. That was followed by the EP "You Rock" which was confidently released in 2002. The Daybirds toured the country for over 7 years. He and his fellow band mates were courted by a major management company for several years, but a relationship did not materialize. Regardless, Jon and The Daybirds opened for a few popular acts: Huey Lewis, Fastball, Big Head Todd, Wilco, Sondre Lerche and quite a few others.

Jon’s creative song writing was a major part of The Daybirds indie success, along with his flexibility on multiple instruments. His ability to wear many hats helped Jon see the big picture: instruments, melodies, rhythm all working together. 7 years later, he is recording everything on demos and will continue the DIY approach on his first release. “I get along great with each member of The Daybirds, but have a need for a new outlet.” It seems now that new outlet is beginning to take shape.

Now 25 years young, Jon realized music was his calling by process of elimination, “I realized I was not a good teacher, I wasn’t a very good cook, and an even worse mathematician. It seemed writing music was something that was really in the collar for me!”

Jon Yeager will be playing quite regularly in support of his solo album. He plans on playing many shows by himself and will tour with a back up band soon after the recording is complete.

Independent Musician Magazine recently interviewed Jon about his current stint as tour manager and opening act for Sondre Lerche and The Golden Republic. Associate Editor Liliana Aranda has put aside her personal projects in order to develop Jon’s solo album, working long hours contacting some of music’s most respected artists & producers to enlist in this long-awaited project.

“I believe in Jon’s talent and would drop anything to help him get his music heard. In fact, I put our own magazine on hold for a few months in order to call up, write, and visit anyone who I felt was worthy. A handful of artists with raw talent grab me the way stand-outs like Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, and The Velvet Teen did; very soon, I’ll list Jon as one of those artists.”
