Details:
Born in Curitiba Brazil in 1971, Abilio Abreu began playing guitar at the age of 13.
Initially influenced by the music of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd, he defined several bands and worked extensively in the local club scene playing rock, reggae, funk, blues and heavy metal.
Impressed with his eclectic background and musical versatility, Brazilian composer Joao Lopes invited Abilio for a European tour in 1992.
Upon his return to Brazil, Abilio was introduced to Brazilian popular music.
Inspired by the brilliant work of Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, and Djavan, he eventually traded his electric guitar for a nylon stringed acoustic instrument.
Constantly refining his song-writing skills, he moved to New York City pursuing the dream of recording his own songs.
While performing classic Brazilian popular songs and his own compositions in NYC clubs, he was introduced to Composer / Producer Antonio Moreira.
Moved by his lyricism and emotional honesty, Moreira then invited Abilio to record his first CD .
