Jack in the Pulpit was born as "Common Ground" in late 2002 with two long-time friends and former musical partners in their church youth group. With the addition of bassist Colby Hill In March of 2003 the band changed their name at the inspiration of a little known poisonous flower and went into the studio to record the pre-release that would sell over 500 copies, put them on numerous radio stations, and win Jack in the Pulpit the grand prize in a national competition that sent them to Hollywood, CA to record their debut album, "Life Goes On". Over the course of the bands brief but progressive history Jack in the Pulpit has managed nationwide radio airplay and the attention of industry professionals from L.A. to Nashville, to New York, and without question in their hometown of Houston, TX. With a rock solid rhythm section and passion-filled vocal performance, the raw talent of Jack in the Pulpit becomes a consistent trademark in the studio or on the stage as the band rips through one powerful tune after another. While the stream of success so far is flattering, and very much exciting, Jack in the Pulpit is about more than interviews and record sales. It would not be unusual to find the boys backstage in prayer during the moments before a concert.
