After making a name for himself in the Portland gypsy jazz swing movement, sharing the bandstand with Pete Krebs and the Kung Pao Chickens, and then also co-writing and performing with singer-songwriter, McKinley on her album Goner, guitarist Tracy Kim felt it was time to start another project focusing on his original pop-rock songs.
With Tracy on vocals, guitar and piano, he recruited good friend and long time music collaborator Joseph Kim to share the vocal duties and play the role of bassist. Joseph, being a talented multi-instrumentalist and having a degree in music composition(which is how he and Tracy met), but not having played the bass before, accepted and also contributed to the songwriting process. The icing on the cake, is Matt Pracht on drums. A versatile and energetic musician blown over from Kansas.
Thus, The Janglies were formed in the winter of 2004. Since then, they have created a band that sounds both modern and classic.
