Originally born in Canton Ohio, I moved to Florida when I was eleven and have been living there ever since. I got a guitar for Christmas when I was 16 and was almost immediately interested in creating music. I’ve been recording from home for the last seven years, and only four of those years have been spent doing computer based recording. I really enjoy the act of creation, whether it be in writing, sketching, or even photography and putting together short video pieces. But my main love is musical composition. I have dealt with certain psychological “problems” in my life for many years now, and I’ve found that creating music has been the best possible therapy, for all my modes of mind. There is no pill, or clinical therapy, that can do what artistic self-expression can accomplish for the mind, body, and spirit. Although not entirely, my creative technique falls along the lines of stream of consciousness. Its not like I don’t edit myself and strive to consciously form the song, I do. It’s just that when I go about it I try to listen to what the music Is telling me to do, and not necessarily what my intellect is telling me to do. I believe that the music that falls from my mind has a purpose, and since I am the main medium of creation it is my joy, not job, to discover what that purpose could be. I do this by listening to what the music is telling me. It gives me clues through its voiceings and rhythms as to what its melody will be, and the melody leads me to the lyrics, if any at all. It doesn’t always work this way, but I find that the pieces that are born out of this method seem to have a life of their own, and are far more interesting than others. This method also leads to self-discovery, and aids in the process of introspection. I find that I can really get to the core of what is going on inside me when I channel it and allow it to flow freely through a positive creative medium. I’m bringing all of this to the forefront simply because it is an integral part of this music, as well as being a major part of who I am. I believe that honesty is art, and in order to be honest you have to “know thyself”. It all may sound pretentious and contrived, but it really is important to me. You’ll also find that my music isn’t dry and technical whatsoever. In fact it can be downright silly at times. If you can’t laugh, especially at yourself, then what the heck is it all about?! Wilhelm Reich said that life consists of art, work, and love. I rather like what https://www.tradebit.coml had to say about life and the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” An equal marriage of those two philosophies would truly bring Heaven down to Earth.
