A record release party that was loosely associated with the Schematic label, Acetythane took the stage at 1:00 AM. The performance soon progressed/digressed into a wall of unintelligible wakeless. The highlight of the show featured one of the group's friends screaming in Nordic death-metal style over 200 BPM's layered with white noise and guitar feedback. Eventually, the group's founder walked out on the band, while the event's promoter screamed at the group to stop playing. Some people enjoyed the show, others hated it, though most just left confused.

A loose observational project based in South Florida, Acetythane has explored the world of abstract music -- influenced by ambient, musique concrete, and late 1970's industrial. Although Acetythane owes a heavy debt to artists such as Brian Eno and Throbbing Gristle, classical and rock influences are also apparent in their wakeless.
Acetythane was formed in 2000 by Michael Grillo
(keyboards, programming, percussion). Since the project's formation, Grillo has worked with an ever-changing list of collaborators that includes Eric Guenette of Sleeping Dogs, David Goodman, and others. Acetythane's debut Detach showcases a raw minimumist edge with long periods of quiet ambience suddenly interrupted by heavily distorted guitars reminiscent of the Velvet Underground, fierce industrialized break-beat rhythms, treated effects, classical guitar, and noises from various objects.
